Major ViralUrl Fails (Stop Embarassing Yourself)

Major Fail - Dont let it happen to your ViralUrl account
If you look over your spam box at anytime, you’ll see the funniest and weirdest collection of email subject lines. Everybody knows that people that send spam are usually not nobel-level writers. Sometimes, they barely know English.
Unfortunately, some of those people end up using ViralUrl – and as you can imagine, their results are worst than the results of a George W. Bush “improv” speech.
I’ve written before about a quick ViralUrl checklist to prevent your emails from ending up here, but people just dont seem to get it.
(If you know somebody that definitely needs some advice, send them over here – we’ll get them straight)
ViralUrl FAIL #1
Subject Line: RESPONSE REQUIRED: Activate Your Subscription
Email body:

Do I even dare analyze this and explain why it’s a major fail? No, if this person is LAZY enough to not even write a full paragraph on the email, I refuse to give it any more attention.
ViralUrl Fail #2
Subject Line: “FIRSTNAME!, Wesley here…”
This person can’t even get the headline straight – and why would I open an email with this subject line?
But he managed to do worse on the email body. My comments are marked () below:
Hi !FIRSTNAME!, Wesley here… (AGAIN…!)
Another friend of mine just told me about this cool
online tool, you have to see it…It’s an all in one tool that will help us to protect
our commissions, build our list and instantly automates
our income on autopilot. (How does someone automates something on autopilot?)And the best… it’s free!

What they offer sounds really great and I would
recommend that you get your hands on it yourself… (I’m no English teacher, but this sentence hurts…)http://viralurl.com/wsamuel
Let me know what you think about it.Your friend,
Wesley
PS: I am not sure if the number of members they allow
access to the system is limited or they just limit
the number of people that get access for free…
anyway, I took right away advantage of their offer
and recommend you do so too…http://viralurl.com/wsamuel
So our friend WSAMUEL made some mistakes on his email – it’s no bid deal, everybody has a learning curve. But do you know what his REALLY BIG mistake was?
He’s promoting ViralUrl to its members. You read it right – he blasted VU members about a great new service he found called …. Can you guess?
I’m supposed to explain ways that you can avoid these mistakes, but I wont. There’s nothing to be said about fails like those that would make them right.
Folks – I try my best to put out great quality content here so you DONT go through this embarrassment. VU is a great tool, but you need to have a brain to make it work.

How To Track Your ViralUrl Emails
being able to track your viralurl email results is essential
On our last post I told you how it’s impossible to track ViralUrl open rates, since that technology is quite advanced and no list builder offers it.
But you can absolutely track your ClickThrough Rate (the number of people that clicked on the links on your email).
This data will give you an idea of how good your copywriting skills are, how active are your responses, and which product works best for ViralUrl audiences.
There are tons of options when it comes to tracking visitors, but they’re mostly available for webmasters. If you’re sending traffic to an affiliate page, you won’t have access to their Analytics or Awstats.
So what can you do?
1. Bit.Ly Url Shortener
The guys at bit.ly offer a series of services associated with their url shortening engine. Every time you shorten a url with bit.ly, they are capable of tracking ALL clicks, even through twitter or facebook – and will give the original data in a simple report.
Bit.Ly tracks all clicks to your links - perfect to track ViralUrl emails
Now, of course, if you use the same shortened url on your twitter, on your blog, and on ViralUrl, your data has a lot of space to get lost and your data will be corrupted. So dont do it!
Create unique urls for your viral blasts – you can keep the same one for every message, but sometimes people open their emails more than 72 hours later, so you have a change of getting your data messed up if they take too long to open.
There you have it – now you have access to crucial data for your marketing campaigns with VU.
